Welcome to The NGCL

The National Guild of Certified Locksmiths (NGCL) was set up with the vision of ‘Supporting Locksmiths and Protecting Customers’. We saw a need to bring some stability to the locksmithing industry which has been unregulated for a long time. In order to ensure the longevity of the locksmithing industry, regulations and standards need to be put in place. This will benefit both Locksmiths and Customers, as they will both receive the appropriate support and guidance.

What we do for Customers

Our aim is to empower customers with the knowledge that the Locksmith they are using is fully trained and trustworthy. Our vetting process involves police checks, training updates and on site monitoring, which means that only the best Locksmiths can be on our books.

With no official Locksmith qualification out there, the NGCL has set up a certification program, that ensure all NGCL Locksmiths meet a high standard of training, customer service and competency. There are several reasons that it is preferable to use a guild like The NGCL to find your Locksmith. You know that all of our Locksmiths have been vetted and their skills checked. You can have peace of mind that the job will be completed in a professional way at a fair price, rather than being unsure if the Locksmith you have hired is fully trained and trustworthy.

What we do for Locksmith Engineers

Our founder Chris, a Locksmith for over 35 years, wanted a guild where Locksmith Engineers could be trained and supported, whilst also being able to run their own locksmithing business. Once a Locksmith is on the NGCL books, then they have access to 24/7 technical support. This means that if a Locksmith is ever stuck on site at a job, our experienced technical experts will be able to talk them through the issue, offer advice and provide the support that is needed for the Locksmith to finish the job. The NGCL also has an in house marketing team that will take care of advertising and supporting the online presence of all Locksmiths that are with The NGCL. This means that a Locksmith that runs their own business may be exposed to extra work through The NGCL.

The NGCL supports the state of the art Keytek Locksmith Training Academy in Poole, Dorset. The NGCL overseas training courses for those new to the industry to train and gain the skills they need to start locksmithing. ‘Brush up’ courses are also offered through the Academy for those who have been in the industry a long time and just want to update their skill set.

The NGCL approved training is currently the highest possible accreditation within the industry. After the five or eight day course a Locksmith will have the skills and support they need to work in the Locksmith industry. They will then receive the full and ongoing support of The NGCL for as long as they are a member.
